WELCOME TO THE WARREN COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY, MCMINNVILLE, TN
Volunteers giving animals hope!

"I am not afraid to stand for justice, not afraid to speak up for the abused and the forgotten, if no one will listen, I will not stop until their suffering is heard. I will not look into the eyes of another dying animal and let their suffering continue with no one helping, or no one held accountable. To know this is happening yet do nothing, to know that they die without any justice, will not be allowed to go on unchallenged any longer "  Clay L.

This is a copy of Lisa Hobbs Story explaining the abuse allegation.  You decide who is telling the truth.  While Lisa Hobbs
tries to deflect from the facts, numbers do not lie.  Pictures do not lie, the state lab necropsy does not lie
the county health and welfare minutes do not lie Lisa Hobbs. I guess none of the facts matter to you.  The fact that we help
Warren County residents every day does not lie?  The only ones making Warren County look bad is you and your paper, the
County officials trying to cover it up and deflect attention from the abuse and starvation.  I see you failed to mention any facts.
Pictured above are the dogs Lisa Hobbs talks about in her Story.

Please take the time to read this important article written by Big Fluffy Dogs on the abuse uncovered at Warren County Animal Control....Please help us to hold the abusers accountable for this horrific abuse and please help us to stand strong in our fight for justice for Mila and the many that have died at this shelter and for the many that have left this facility emaciated and injured please stand with us and be their voice!
This is a very very long and dark post and I apologize in advance. I have been sitting on a piece of information that I have debated making public. As many of you know, BFDR has alleged that the Warren County Animal Shelter in McMinnville TN starved dogs in their care. We took 15 from them and those that had been there the longest were emaciated as compared to their intake pictures and those that were more recent intakes were covered in bite wounds. At the very bottom of this post is a link to all the documents that establish the condition of the dogs on arrival. Also in that link is the state lab report which proves Mila was not euthanized as claimed, but starved. I am sickened over this.

BFDR have been called liars. We have been told everything we said is made up and a hoax. We have been told that the video of the dead dogs in the pit on the open land behind the shelter is old footage we have somehow relooped to make them look bad. Then we were told the pit was for road kill and euthanized dogs. Then we were told they only euthanized three animals in the past year: Mila the husky in the video, a cat with a lung infection and an aggressive pit bull. We have been told that Dr. Young in McMinnville euthanized Mila for health reasons. We have been told it's our fault she's dead because we didn't get her out of the shelter. In short, we've been told everything but the truth.

I want to shine a very large spotlight on to Warren County Tennessee and I want everyone to know the truth. Mila's body was brought to our vet on Monday, March 25. The body was sent to the state lab for necropsy. Below is what the state lab said about her condition and cause of death. This dog died of starvation and was NOT euthanized. Here is what the report says (the full report is in the link at the bottom):

Diagnosis
Emaciation (Malnutrition/Starvation)
Fat Atrophy, severe
Muscle Atrophy
Cutaneous Myiasis, generalized, moderate to severe (antemortem)
Generalized Demodectic Mange, severe with bacterial dermatitis
Stomach, Gastric Dilation with food overload (high appetite)
Lymphadenopathy
Pulmonary Edema

Final Diagnosis Comment
The most significant finding is the starvation which is the result of inadequate nutrition. There is no evidence of terminal
infectious disease or malignant neoplasia that may cause the emaciation. Long periods of inadequate nutrition can have
severe detrimental effects on the body including immune system impairment which is evident with the severe demodectic
mange found in this dog; susceptibility to infections, prolonged gastric emptying and gastrointestinal transit times; and
reduced cardiac output.
There is no evidence of poisoning.

Gross Examination
The body and separate bag with a 45 X 5 X 6 cm piece of meat are received on 3/25/13. The necropsy is performed on
3/26/13. Presented is an approximately 4-5 year-old (based on teeth and tartar accumulation), spayed female Sheppard
mix dog in poor body condition with moderate to severe postmortem autolysis. The dog has a blue collar but it is not
embedded in the skin. On general examination, the body is generally covered with maggots and very thin with bony
prominences on hips and ribs. The ventral skin is thickened and crusty. There are multiple open wounds (parasitic-like
hole) as follow: right face, distal legs and right lateral thorax. The haircoat is dull and less abundant (no thick as in
healthy dogs). There are some areas of alopecia on the legs with associated scabs. The rectum is missing (scavengers).
The superficial inguinal lymph nodes are prominent. Upon opening the body and reflecting the skin, the subcutaneous
tissue lacks of fat, and is green on some areas (autolysis). The internal organs are dark red, congested and generally
decomposed. There is a severe lack of fat. The lung lobes are edematous. The stomach is distended and filled with
abundant dry commercial dog food (food overload). The small intestine is empty. The distal large intestine is coated by
small amounts of green pasty feces. The liver is slightly small (off fed). The spleen is not enlarged (no euthanized). The
lymph nodes are generally enlarged (more over the subcutaneous LNs). No other significant gross findings are observed
in the body.

Let's review the facts, not the crap put out there by the spin doctors at Warren County TN:

1. Mila suffered from extreme starvation.
2. She died sometime around March 19.
3. Pictures of her were circulating in January and fundraising was done for her by Sad Eyes Urgent Rescues facebook page at least as far back as Feb 6.
4. Mila was NOT euthanized per the state lab's report.
5. Mila suffered extreme starvation, had a small liver from lack of food, was engorged with dry food at the time of death.

For those that want a (GRAPHIC) reminder of what she looked like at death, the link is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul2_P7K5EaM&feature=youtu.be

We have turned over all our photos, vet records, and evidence provided by the shelter to the authorities. It is beyond our ability to bring the county to justice, but they have a ton of explaining to do and we sincerely hope the masses ask those questions and that the media step up and ask the hard questions.

Spread the word, fans. This county needs to be investigated. I am not OK that a dog that starved to death, let alone while in the government's care. I am appalled at the incredible cruelty of it all.

Here is the Spreadsheet prepared by the Warren County Finance department after the Humane Society requested the information in December 2012 (Fourth Request by us over 3 years) It is the MONEY paid to the Warren County Animal Control by people for adopting dogs and cats. By Tennessee Spay and Neuter Law they are supposed to Spay and Neuter al animals but it gives them an option of collecting a $25 deposit that is to be refunded once the pet is fixed.  Warren County collects $10 in addition to the $25 deposit.  The problem I see is that there is NO follow up to make sure the pet is spayed or neutered and also as you see there are many dogs and cats Adopted UNALTERED for $10 (The county fee) but according to this spreadsheet they claim to not have collected the deposit that is STATE law.  Here is the Breakdown from this spreadsheet that only covers fiscal years, 2010, 2011, & 2012. These are the following amounts.  These are the amounts after the county refunded those who spayed and neutered their pets and requested a refund.  This is what was left over to be used for Spay/Neuter programs.

(Fiscal Years July-June)

2010 $1,224.00

2011 $2,186.00

2012 $3,052.00

"Uncollected Money $1,425.00 for adoptions no deposit was collected

That totals $7,887.00 just for THREE YEARS

This MONEY can ONLY be used for Spay and Neuter, I have inspected the county paperwork and there are NO spay and neuter programs that this money was used for. This is after we asked for this money accounting in September 2010, After the Office of Open Records requested where this money was used for Spay and Neuter going back to 2010.  Warren County certainly knew this money was NOT theirs to use for whatever they felt like, yet they are so sure NO ONE will question them they not only used it, they told the public the money was used for Spay/Neuter education because they placed brochures at the door that are provided FREE to any Shelter or Rescue Click this LINK to see the spreadsheet. This money was deposited into the "TIPPING FUND" then transferred according to the Warren County Finance department CLICK HERE FOR PAPERWORK

Click here for the Tennessee Spay/Neuter Law

(one county received an exemption in 2012 that was voted by the general assembly, they are the only county with this exemption and it is NOT Warren County)

(Uncollected money was by counting the adoptions missing the deposit.  The

best I can figure from this spreadsheet they should have collected an additional $1,425.00)

We will post any additional links and posts as they become available.  Thank you for your support for all animals,

for standing up for even those in the shelter who endured this abuse.  It saddens me that the officials once again are working hard

to shift the focus away from the abuse and neglect.  So sad that a citizen of Warren County that had dogs in

these conditions would be arrested, yet no one has been held accountable yet for Everett (Whisky),

Thank you to everyone who is following the story of Corona, for those who do not know about us, we are an all VOLUNTEER Humane Society with no building, but we do all we can to help/rescue the animals here in Warren County, Tn to make a difference for them. We help animals everyday all through donations and fundraisers and we are doing all we can to make sure Corona gets all of the medical care she needs during these next few days and weeks and there are no words to tell you how much your support, emails and posts mean to us and to Corona. For those who are reading for the first time about Corona, we were called Wednesday evening about her by the nice family as she was a STRAY and they were taking care of her and found her bleeding and in need of help and called us and asked us to help Corona. When I arrived I found her bleeding from her mouth, nose, and eyes. I thought she may have been shot but could not find an entry wound. It appeared that she had been struck across her nose with some object as it was swelling as I watched her. It was after hours for the vets here but I was able to get a hold of Dr. Tate who met me at the office. Dr. Tate treated her and thought that she had been hit by a board or bat etc and she also had a large cut on the side of her tongue that we thought she had bit when she was hit. During surgery though Dr. Tate became more concerned as he was stitching up her tongue and saw that her tongue deep in her throat was sliced so they did x-rays and found a bullet and sadly it had broke apart and sweet Corona had shrapnel in her throat and stomach. He also found that she had flash burns in her throat from the blast of the gun on her larynx and throat and she has damage to her esophagus. It was a very, very long surgery and thankfully Corona is awake and still wagging her tail but she sadly has a long recovery that probably will require additional surgeries and desperately needs your prayers and support. Corona has had a horrible crime committed to her and we of course want Corona to see justice. We have filled out a police report and will do everything we can to help find out who shot Corona. What is so sad is that I imagine that this wonderful and friendly girl probably sat wagging her tail and this coward put the gun in her mouth and shot her and then hit her across the nose. It takes a truly callous and immoral person to do this. For everyone who wants to donate to help with her medical care and to help us set up a Reward for information that helps us find this coward who put a gun into sweet Corona's mouth and pulled the trigger I have listed the ways you can help below. We cannot begin to thank everyone who has shown their support and We want you to know that we will do whatever Dr Tate tells us we can do to help Corona. This happened in Warren County, Tn and Cannon county is our neighboring county and thankfully was able to see Corona after we called. If you want to give you can do it in the following ways. Corona will recover in an indoor foster home and then we will find her a wonderful indoor home where she will have nothing but love and happiness.

We would love to have you join us and we need
more volunteers to help us rescue and
save animals in Warren County.
Fostering is a great way to help us save lives. Foster homes are needed for as short as a few days to several months depending on the situation. Some animals come in in need of surgery, someare neglected and emaciated and need time to recover.
Opening your home up to one of these animals can bring such joy in knowing you were a part of helping us save alife. We need families that can help with both short/longterm stays. If you can open up your heart and life by fostering, the reward will be well worth the time and effort. Please fill out our Foster Application if you can help. Without the help of the foster families that have volunteered, we would not of been able tosave the many thus farin our county. Fostering is an experience that you will remember forever and when you see a picture of the dog or cat you helped save, it is such a great joy just knowing you had a part of saving that animals life.
